Why do people wear footwear sizes that are too big for them?

Like if their a 10, they ll wear an 11, for no reason. Isn’t the risks of wearing footwear too big for you is, 1) you wear the footwear down on the inside because of constant rubbing, 2) blisters, 3) walking abnormally.
